This piece is part of a series of six large abstracts that I started while undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer last summer. Although I had ample support during the last year, I wanted to allow myself to set necessary boundaries for personal space: peaceful time alone to minimize stress, find joy, and embrace gratefulness. This piece represents that journey. I am proud of myself for finding happiness in even the most difficult moments

I am an artist living down the Jersey shore. Since the pandemic, I have embraced abstract art. I enjoy the freedom and uniqueness of it. In 2023 and 2024, I was juried into several local and regional art exhibitions, with an Honorable Mention in one and 3rd Place in another. But in April 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even though this has sidetracked my "art career," so to speak, the act of creating during this stressful time has been integral for my mental coping and physical healing.
