A reflective, lyrical poem celebrating the creator's success and efficacy with Mindfulness Meditation as a recovery tool and wellness modality. The creator accesses AI platforms to support accompanying music composition, image generation, and video editing to expand the work from merely written word to an audio-visual one.
A poet, children's author, screenwriter, journalist, photographer, ceramic and mixed-media artist based in the Pacific Northwest, they self identify as a neurodivergent, two-spirit, elder storyteller and contrarian. They currently serve on statewide advisory councils tasked with advocating for the elderly, disabled, and LGBTQ+ communities.
Throughout recovery periods from heart attacks and cancer surgery, they've re-framed neurodivergence as an asset to successfully dispel stigma. Mindful awareness and inclusivity are their benchmarks, creating an out-of-the-box perspective needed to move forward rather than stagnate under oppressive socio-cultural and familial expectations. Their success in this area is foundational to most of their creative works.
Body and Soul - Lyrics
Feelin' bound to the body
With its aches and pains
distractions are constant
Make me despondent
Seemingly always the same
Although in some moments
Soul separates
upon predicates
Truth elevates
And I clear,
the weight, the fear
the body of burden
below
Clamoring cacophony
Social rage and sages
In the vanity they promote
seeping in the brain,
Seemingly always with blame
Although in some moments
Soul separates
upon predicates
Truth elevates
And I clear,
the weight, the fear
the body of burden
below
Saturated with serenity
Spirit lifts and drifts
between naught and nirvana
leaving body behind
Seemingly without any blame
Although in some moments
Soul separates
upon predicates
Truth elevates
And I clear,
the weight, the fear
the body of burden
below
the burdensome body,
the blamers and shamers
the worrisome world
seemingly separate
and freedom rings...
from within
These are the moments
Soul separates
always celebrates
When truth elevates
And I clear,
the weight, the fear
the body of burden
below
