My work isn’t about one subject or another, but rather, about events or thoughts that touch me. I use mixed media, fiber art and photography to express my emotions. Much of my subject matter focuses on moments in time and doesn’t shy away from sentiments. Breast cancer, for example, has played a large role in my family and many of my pieces have reflected this in one way or another. My work tends to focus on events that have occurred and have touched me deeply. Many of these themes have been chosen because of their injustice or impact on society. I’ve never really liked to explain a certain piece of work – I like the viewer to take away his, her or their own interpretation of the piece. There is no right or wrong but rather a feeling each person has after seeing one of my works.
