Sophia Eroshkina

I am a young British artist of Uzbek descent living in Portugal. The theme of this competition touches me very deeply. It is not enough to fit. But to belong you need to embrace and accept yourself and your own shadow. I work with oil, acrylic, and watercolors to document this journey. A conclusion I reached is that you do not need to be on top of the mountain to be on top of the world.

I was born in London and started my art practice in Battersea. I experimented with various techniques and produced a body of work focussing on how different people perceive, respect, and protect the natural environment. Since 2020 I have been living in Cascais, Portugal. I am inspired by the limitless ocean as the backdrop to the diversity I am observing around me.
